A variety of projects to setup the new vegetable garden.
Wow what a huge amount of work! Two weeks after we moved in a tree fell in storm. We cleaned it up, but identified 6 other dead and standing trees on the property that were also at risk of falling. Had a tree service cut the 6 down. It would have cost a fortune for the service to also clean everything up, and would have been a tremendous waste as they just take logs to the dump. Instead, I decided I would do the cleanup to save some money, stash away some firewood, and score some logs to mill into boards for woodworking.
I made an end table to match my standing desk. Designed something with black powder coated steel legs and multiple levels of simple shelves, taking design queues from the style of the desk.
A couple of Christmas gifts I made for 2022. Also made the Cornhole Set, but that’s got its own post. We’ve got a bit edge grain cutting board and a tablet stand.
Kaylin and I recently had our 5 year anniversary, and I made her a jewelry box to celebrate. It’s a pretty special box and turned out great!
A batch of frames, including 3 pictures of our late daughter Allison, and a Christmas gift for Joe.
A batch of frames, including two large prints of pictures I took in Yosemite / Sequoia, an old sketch of a cathedral from my Grandma, and a shadow box to remember Allison.
My working arrangement recently became permanently remote, and my old desk just wasn’t cutting it anymore. The desk’s surface was small and cluttered, its clumsy finish was becoming increasingly hard to look at, and its fixed height was not particularly ergonomic. It was time to invest in my home office setup, and build a better desk.
I’m not sure exactly when I originally made this project. It was sometime when I was living in Wicker Park. What makes it hard to pin down is that I didn’t have it when I moved in, I did have it when I moved out, and somehow built it in Grayslake. Must have gone home and built it on weekends or something. One of the original construction pictures I have says that it was taken in February 2016. We’ll go with that.
