Office End Table Header

I made an end table to match my standing desk. Designed something with black powder coated steel legs and multiple levels of simple shelves, taking design queues from the style of the desk.

Designed in fusion 360 to find a set of visually appealing proportions. Here’s a drawing a put together with several views and measurements: Office_End_Table_Drawing.pdf

Notes:

  • Made this while I was off on paternity leave for baby!
  • Bought the legs off amazon for ~$85. The price was right and the quality of the paint is good. I do wish the tubing was little thicker gauge.
  • Made the shelves using various walnut boards sitting around the shop. I retained as much thickness as I could. The top shelf is probably a little over 6/4, and the lower two shelves are probably something like 5/4.
  • Bought some metal angle brackets to attach the shelves to the legs. Attached to the shelves using threaded inserts and 1/4 20 bolts. Attached to the legs by tapping some 1/4 20 holes. Higher gauge tubing would have made for a better connection to the legs.
  • Finished with several coats of Arm-R-Seal satin finish, wiped on and lightly sanding between each coat.

Turned out great. Straight forward build using mostly scrap materials with a beautiful result. What’s not to like?
