Kaylin and I recently had our 5 year anniversary, and I made her a jewelry box to celebrate. It’s a pretty special box and turned out great!
I designed the box in Fusion 360 with input from Kaylin. The gallery contains a mockup rendering and the detailed drawings.
Some notes:
- The wood cherry with walnut accents.
- The top is highly figured walnut, and the inside features gold colored epoxy inlay, which I carved using a router with a v-groove bit.
- The box has solid brass hardware, including brusso hinges and knobs from paxton hardware.
- The box has a mitered construction, with continuous grain match produced from a small piece of 8/4 cherry.
- The drawer faces are book matched from a single piece of walnut.
- The compartments are lined with felt. The top features two sections for holding rings / earrings, which I made by wrapping high density foam with felt.
