There’s been a really strong burning oil odor in the cabin of my 2004 e46 330xi. Opened the hood and saw oil leaking out from the valve cover gasket. This car’s problems just keep coming.
The thing that stings the most about this project is that I already did it back in 2015. (Included a couple pictures from that job in the gallery.) I’ve repaired everything that can break on this car and we’re back at the top of the list.
Silver lining is that I’m much more experienced than I was in 2015 so this was a walk in the park. Changed my spark plugs while I was at it, which was new for me. The spark plugs were original, and I’m pretty sure the car has better pickup with the new plugs in place. Check out the photos to see the build up on them.
Parts came in at $93.70 with shipping and tax from RockAuto.
I used this video from 50sKid as a refresher to make sure I did everything right. Not much to add. Straight forward project that took my a couple hours.
