Picked up a bargain load of ~200 boardfeet of walnut from out in rural Illinois.
Saw a listing on craigslist. Didn’t have any particular project in mind but saw the $2 / bdft price and couldn’t resist. Paid $400 for 200 boardfeet!
Went and picked it up with Joe in the pouring rain. The boards were too long to close the tailgate so we had to drive 1.5 hours home with the trunk open to the rain! Made quite a mess of Kaylin’s car.
The boards had a bunch of defects, rough sawn, undried (waited at least 1-2 years before using any), and had inconsistent thickness, so they were hard to work with. But I made a bunch of incredible projects with this load - everything in the walnut category prior on or before 2023.
