My first woodworking project! Was preparing to move out of my parents house and decided to build a bed instead of buy to save some money. Writing this in 9/9/2023.
This project is full of mistakes and regrets:
- It’s overbuilt, and weighs about 2x as much as it should.
- The drawer construction is extremely shotty.
- The drawer slides are terrible.
- The finish include stain, which is splotchy.
- There drawer gaps are inconsistent.
- Any probably many more.
Was working with my dad’s tools and was lucky to come away with all my fingers given his death trap of a table saw (would rock, was missing throat plate, fence wasn’t parallel with the blade, and had no power switch - plugging it in turned it on!). Turned out decent given the tools and my inexperience, and continues to earn a place in our house despite its issues. Learned a lot and got me hooked on a hobby that’s been rewarding!
